Maria was born to the late Andrew Collazo and Ramona Collazo in the town of Corozal, Puerto Rico and is survived by three sisters, Aida, Pura, and Milagros; two daughters, Lisa and Gloria; and two sons, Luis and Georgie. A host of surviving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, foster children, and friends join in the celebration of Maria's life; who is gone too soon but will live forever in our hearts and souls.
Maria was considered the matriarch of the family for her constant presence and generosity, which she imparted to family and friends alike without seeking recognition or reward.
Rest in peace and may your eternal soul watch over us.
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I took
his hand when I heard him call, I turned my
back and left it all. I could not stay another
day, to laugh, love, work or play. Tasks left
undone must stay that way, I found peace
at the close of day. If my time has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship
shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I
too will miss. Be not burdened with times of
sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much, good
friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t
lengthen it now with undue grief.
God wanted me now. He set me free.
