Roger Lee DeBord

Obituary

Roger Lee DeBord, 91, Tampa, FL, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, with two
of his children by his side.

Roger was born April 28, 1935, in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Vader Nesbitt DeBord
and Valerie “Vera” Amelia Rebholz DeBord. Roger moved to Tampa, FL with his
parents in 1945 and attended Hillsborough High School in Tampa, FL from 1950 to
1952. Though he did not graduate, he did later complete his GED in 1954. Roger was
enlisted in the United States Marine Corps from August 27, 1957, leaving with
honorable discharge on August 26, 1960.

Roger married Noeletta Ann Cubbage on January 9, 1965, in Georgia. The two
were married for sixty (60) years and were blessed to have celebrated their 60th
anniversary together on January 9, 2025, just prior to Noeletta’s passing in February
2025. He co-owned Jamboree Builders and Developers, Inc with Noeletta until their
retirement in 2015 and dissolution of the company.

Roger was non-denomination Christian, having attended House of Hope Church,
pastored by Bertha Madden and then Henry “Hank” DeVos in south Tampa, FL and
most recently Centerpointe Church, pastored by the late Dale Brooks in Temple
Terrace, FL. He was a member of the Interbay Moose Lodge 912, enjoyed riding his
motorcycle until he was just shy of age 88, loved to fish and often could be seen by
neighbors watching his birds feed from his recliner. He was very skilled in carpentry
and created many beautiful projects for family, friends and neighbors.
Roger was a General Contractor for forty (40+) years, building custom homes and
leaving behind his and his late wife’s legacy of Heritage Square, located in Forest Hills
in Tampa, FL, retiring at the age of eighty (80). Prior to becoming a General
Contractor, he was a repossession man, a salesman in the mortgage business, where
he met his wife, Noeletta, and even performed as a drunken clown in a trapeze act
for a traveling circus.

Remaining to cherish Roger’s memory are children, Valerie Jo DiMaggio, Michael
Lee Schmitt, Christopher David DeBord and Jennifer Janet DeBord; son-in-law,
Richard Joseph “RJ” DiMaggio; grandchildren, Amanda Jo Robinson (Ryan Robinson),
Richard Joseph DiMaggio, II and Michael Lee Schmitt, Jr.; great grandchildren, Michael
“Mikey” Schmitt, Ryker Joseph Robinson and Scarlet Jo Robinson; sisters-in-law,
Barbara Marie Hamilton DeBord and Janet Sue Hutchinson (Jesse Hutchinson); nieces
and nephew, Rodney Eugene DeBord, Sandra Jean DeBord, Jessica Ann Harris (Paul
Harris) and Kristen Lee Socarras (Eddie Socarras); 4 great nieces, 3 great nephews
and 6 great, great nieces and nephews.

Preceding Roger in death are wife, Noeletta Ann Cubbage DeBord; parents, Vader
Nesbitt DeBord and Valerie “Vera” Ameila Rebholz DeBord; parents-in-law, Lester
Noel Cubbge and Hattie Iola Bell Cubbage; brother, David Eugene DeBord.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for September 19, 2026. Details will be
sent out at a later date.
