Obituary

Gus B. Woodward Jr., at a young age of 84 has sadly passed away on Wednesday, 4 February 2026 leaving a legacy of service, love, laughter, and devotion to family.

He was the beloved husband of Annice Woodward for 45 years and a loving father to Robbin L. (Woodward) Williams and her husband David Williams, Gus B. Woodward III, and Victoria Woodward, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy through his grandchildren Marcus A. Bass, Christopher C. Bass, Stephen D. Williams, Jonathan D. Williams, Daniel D. Williams, Benjamin D. Williams, Dana Williams, Alexandria Williams, Shana Woodward, and Sydney Woodward. He also leaves behind his great-grandson Iyaz Harvey and great-granddaughters Isabella Rose and Step great granddaughter Sarah Grace, who brought him so much joy.

He was cherished by his sister Carla Hamilton, his brothers Christopher Woodward and David Woodward, along with countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is reunited with his parents Gus B. Woodward Sr. and Margaret Miller Woodward, his siblings Faye Love, Acquanetta Allen, Frederick (Fred) Woodward, and Joseph (Joe) Woodward including his daughter Victoria M. Woodward and grandson Nicholas Woodward, who preceded him.

He retired honorably from the U.S. Army December 1981, after 22 years of service on varies duty assignments, including the Vietnam War. Gus continued his commitment to service through Department of Defense Military Entrance and Processing Station Troy, MI as Test Control Officer (TCO), completing a total of 38 years of dedicated service to the Federal Government. His heart for service began early, even as a young altar boy and student at Saint Emma Military Academy.

Gus found joy in music, especially jazz, playing the keyboard, golfing, and bringing laughter to everyone around him with his wonderful sense of humor.

His life reminds us that time is a gift, and the greatest legacy is the lives we touch along the way.

His remains are being cremated in Tampa, Florida and then shipped from Compassionate Cremations and Funeral Home to Acacia Park Cemetery & Mausoleum 31300 Southfield Road Beverly Hills, Michigan as his final resting place on February 27, 2026 @ 1pm.
