Florence Straka, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 15, 2026, surrounded by all the love and compassion she so greatly deserved.

Born on November 16, 1946, Florence was the beloved daughter of the late John and Sue Girosky (Shermeg). She lived a life defined by kindness, strength, compassion, and devotion to those she loved. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, loyal friend, and a source of comfort and support to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

For 60 years, Florence shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her beloved husband, Michael R. Straka of Tampa, Florida. Their bond was built on unwavering love, mutual respect, and steadfast companionship through every season of life. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and countless cherished memories, always standing by one another with devotion and grace.

Florence found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved gardening and spent many happy hours tending to her flowers and plants, creating beauty wherever she lived, while also enjoying the friendships and events of various Local Garden Clubs.  She was also a devoted animal lover whose dogs held a special place in her heart. Her faithful companion, Lily, was not only cherished by Florence but was also remarkably loyal and attentive to her, providing comfort, companionship, and unconditional love throughout the years. The bond they shared was a special one and brought Florence great happiness.

She was the kind of person who always put others before herself. Whether caring for her husband and family, helping a friend, or offering comfort to someone in need, Florence never hesitated to give her time, energy, and love. She found her greatest fulfillment in caring for those around her and often placed the needs of others ahead of her own without seeking recognition. The happiness and well-being of those she loved always came first, and her selflessness was one of her greatest gifts.

Like the gardens she lovingly tended, her life brought beauty, comfort, and joy to all who knew her.

Florence will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, quiet strength, and the unwavering love she gave so freely. Her home was a place of welcome and comfort, and her presence brought peace and happiness to family and friends alike.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Michael R. Straka of Tampa, Florida; her daughter, Doreen Straka of Tampa, Florida; her son, Michael J. Straka of Drums, Pennsylvania; her cherished dog, Lily; and many relatives and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her beloved brothers, Robert Girosky and Edmund Girosky, whose memories she carried with her throughout her life.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, medical professionals, and loved ones who provided comfort, compassion, and support throughout her journey.

Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, her love remains woven into the lives she touched. The flowers she planted will continue to bloom, and the memories she created will continue to flourish in the hearts of those who loved her.
