Obituary

It is with deep sadness that the family of Eric ‘Rick’ Ullersberger announce his sudden passing on May 6, 2025. Rick died peacefully at his home in Tampa at the age of 67 from Heart failure.

Born in Carteret, New Jersey on March 18^, 1958 to his loving parents Francis and Elsie Ullersberger, Rick was welcomed by his sister Lynn who sadly mourns his passing today.

The Ocean always held special allure for Rick. His family spent summers at the Jersey shore watching sunrises together and enjoying family gatherings.

In his 20’s, Rick bid adieu to NJ and headed south to the palm tree and sandy beaches of Florida where he enjoyed the ocean and many more sunrises and sunsets.   He worked for many years at the Tampa Airport in the hospitality division crafting cocktails for travelers and enjoying the social scene. Ricks treasured Florida friends were the highlight of his life in Tampa.

He remained close with Lynn, their extended family and many lifelong cherished friends from New Jersey who often flew down to Florida for some fun in the sun with Rick. Spending  time with Rick always included a party-like atmosphere with cocktails flowing and lots of Laughter.

His love for animals was evident in his willingness to take care of strays like his bird and cat. Buddy, his rescued cocker spaniel and loyal companion for many years was indulged and loved by Rick as well.

Rick was predeceased  by his parents Francis and Elsie, his Aunt Nancy  Sadowski and his Godmother Marion Kovacs. He is survived by his sister Lynn and her husband Jeff, who was like a brother to him, his nephews Jesse(Lia), Michael (Stephanie), his great nephews, Jack, Lucas and Francis, his Uncle Ed Sadowski, cousins Kristen and Eddie as well as many other cousins, friends and neighbors who loved him dearly.

In Memory of Rick, a donation to “The Ocean Cleanup” or your favorite charity  would be a fitting tribute.
