Chris “Crocodile” Guzzo was born Christopher John Guzzo on September 19, 1956, on his father’s birthday. He left this world peacefully on May 14, 2025 in hospice care.
He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ and he lived in Milltown, NJ briefly until the family moved to Monroe Township, NJ, where he spent his childhood. It was there that he began tinkering with cars by his father’s side, his head often found under the hood of something mechanical. He also enjoyed exploring the dense woods that surrounded his home.
Chris was married to Joanne Basch for several years, and he became a father to Carrie Basch. Eventually, Chris relocated to Tampa, Florida where he set up home with his long-time partner, Becky Letourneau. They enjoyed 18 years together, and shared their lives with their beloved cats. In true “Chris” fashion, his favorite feline was named Spaz.
During that time, Chris also became a talented motorcycle customizer, winning many awards for his spectacular creations. He gained the nickname “Crocodile”, and he was also an accomplished electrician.
Chris was preceded in death by his father, Joseph and mother, Teresa. Chris is survived by his girlfriend, Becky Letourneau, his brother Joseph Guzzo, his sister Roslyn Potenza, his daughter Carrie Basch-Heeser and son-in-law John, his grandchildren Ariana, Kayla, Dylan and Maggie, and his great-grandchild Christian.
A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve Not For Me.” Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. ~Unknown
Chris was a free spirit. He lived his life by his own rules. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
