Obituary

Phoebe Evangeline Samuels Jackson, 69, went to the loving arms of our Lord on June 22, 2026 after a 14 month battle with glioblastoma.  She was a resident of Cherokee County, near Andrews. Phoebe was born in the Dominican Republic on February 3, 1957 and was raised by her parents, Cecil Alexander and Leonidas (Lidia) Samuels.

As a devoted wife and mother, Phoebe led a full life.  Upon moving for retirement to Andrews, NC in 2018, she continued to be active as an esthetician, operating out of Salon 64 in Murphy.  Her most enjoyed spending time with her church family, travel, home projects, and hosting visiting friends and family members.  Her walk with the Lord was the central theme of her life at all times.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Mark Steven Jackson, sons Louis Alexander Asilis and Josiah Adam Morris, daughter Lydia Rebeckah Morris, and granddaughter Lareina Alexandria Cole.  Phoebe was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Lidia Samuels and her son, Samuel Mitchell Asilis.

A memorial service will be held at Andrews First Baptist Church in Andrews, NC at 6 PM, July 12, 2026.
