Erna Hampton Gibson Black

Obituary

Erna Hampton Gibson Black was born on December 29, 1942 in Tampa, FL. She passed away on the morning of July 22, 2025 in the comfort of her own bed surrounded by her 3 children & son-in-law.

She had many careers in life. She started out as a school teacher, then was a stay-at-home mom, later went back to teaching, then became a realtor, and lastly worked for the FL Department of Revenue. She and her late husband of 56 years were members of the Church of Christ since before they were married.

She is survived by her daughter Valerie Ribecky, her son Ernest Black, her son Hampton Black, her brother Richard Gibson, her grandson Hampton Black, her grandson Nicholas Black, her granddaughter Vanessa Ribecky, her grandson Kristopher Ribecky, her granddaughter Nicole Ribecky, and her great-granddaughter Kennedy Black.
