Roman Daniel Korchak was born on January 6, 1952, in Germany to Joanne and Daniel Korchak. He passed away peacefully at his home in Tampa, Florida, on August 29, 2024, at the age of 72. In 1954, his family relocated to Detroit, Michigan, where Roman was raised and developed a lifelong passion for rock music and the blues. He graduated from Wayne State University, where he nurtured a love for learning that stayed with him throughout his life.
Roman married the love of his life, Barbara, on May 18, 1996. They welcomed their only child, Jennifer, in November of the same year. This August, they celebrated 30 years together as a couple.
For nearly 40 years, Roman served the city of Tampa proudly as an electrical engineer. His dedication, integrity, and commitment to his work made a lasting impact on those around him.
Beyond his career, Roman had a diverse range of hobbies that reflected his curiosity and hands-on approach to life. He enjoyed playing bass guitar, backpacking, snorkeling, biking, and tinkering with old electrical devices. His inquisitive nature was evident in all he did, always eager to explore and fix something new. Roman also cherished the time he spent with his family, including his beloved rescue dog, Pumpkin, who remained by his side until the end.
Roman is preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Ann Korchak; his daughter, Jennifer Ann Korchak; his daughter’s fiancé, Emir Maldosevic; and his friends who loved and supported him.
Roman will be remembered as a hard-working man, a devoted husband and father, and a true friend. He approached life with curiosity and an appreciation for its many small joys. Through his personal interests and the quiet strength of his character, Roman left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed by all.
