Randy Murphy passed away in loving arms at home. He was the life of the party and the best partner, dad, brother, uncle, friend and mentor that anyone he touched could ever know.
He was raised in Northborough, Massachusetts. After adventures in Hawaii, Los Angeles, Chicago and New York, he settled in Tampa, Florida in 1997.
Randy attended Johnson & Wales University and made a successful career in the hospitality industry supervising restaurant operations.
True to his heritage, he was an avid gardener and loved maintaining the outdoor oasis he created at home.
Upon retirement, Randy stumbled upon his perfect “job” conducting bicycle tours in historic Dunedin, FL. This combined two activities he adored; bicycling and teaching others about FL, the state he loved. He also had a passion for travel and embarked on numerous adventures in the last few years.
As many know, Randy had an inner rock star that brought joy to all anytime an opportunity arose. He felt music in his soul.
Randy is survived and will be deeply missed by his wife Gail, daughters Natalie (Scottsdale, AZ), Caitlin (Lahaina, HI) and Erica – all of whom he couldn’t have been prouder of, sister Sandra (Sean), brothers Bobby (Diane), Dennis (Annie) and John (Laura) as well as countless extended family members and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on his birthday in Tampa and services in Northborough, Massachusetts at a later date; details to be communicated.
To The Murphy Family,
