Obituary

Gary Norman Mosher, age 70, of Rogers City, Michigan, and Nobleton, Florida, passed away on November 6, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, after a long and courageous battle with a series of medical struggles.

Gary was born on June 25, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Jack and Beatrice Mosher. A man of faith, Gary lived a full and hardworking life marked by love, service, and simple joys.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Davis from November 1972 to November 1975, earning the distinction of being a Vietnam veteran. After his service, he built a lifelong career as a carpenter, constructing and renovating countless homes throughout Arizona and Michigan, taking pride in every detail of his work. Among his many accomplishments, his proudest was the home he helped build from the ground up with his brother and best friend, Rick, in Rogers City, a lasting symbol of the bond they shared.

Gary had a love for the water and the outdoors. As a young man, he enjoyed scuba diving, camping by the lake, boating, and fishing. In later years, he found peace and joy living near both Lake Huron and the Gulf of Mexico, where he could enjoy the beauty of creation. He also had an appreciation for classic cars. To him, no car was more beautiful than a Chevy Bel Air.

More than anything, Gary loved spending time with his family. He was down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and happiest when simply relaxing and sharing stories with those he loved. He was rarely seen without one of his many signature trucker hats that he collected over years of travel. In his later years, he especially delighted in spoiling his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy (Piechan) Mosher; his daughters, Vikki (Joe) Gullett of Jackson, Tennessee, and Eryn (Adam) Simmons of Rogers City, Michigan; his son, Lance (Kristen) Mosher of Jackson, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, Silas (11), Asher (8), and Jordan (10). He is also survived by his sister, Brenda (Eddie) LeTarte of Utila, Honduras, and his brother, Rick (Carol) Mosher of Rogers City, Michigan, and Nobleton, Florida; along with a nephew and nieces he had a special bond with.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Beatrice Mosher.

Gary’s life took him across many places, from his birthplace in Michigan, to establishing homes in South Carolina and Arizona. From his never-completely-finished home in Rogers City, Michigan, to his new home in Nobleton, Florida. Wherever he lived, Gary made lasting memories and lifelong friends.

Cremation has taken place.
A memorial and celebration of life will be held in Rogers City, Michigan, in 2026.

Gary’s life and love will be remembered by all who knew him—his faith, his humor, his craftsmanship, and his devotion to family and friends leave a legacy that will continue to inspire those he loved most.
